Dave’s Departure Leaves Two 02818 Supermarkets

 There used to be three supermarkets in and around East Greenwich. With one of the two Dave’s Marketplaces closing down recently, now there are only two.

Just over the town line in North Kingstown, the Dave’s on Frenchtown Road closed after being in business there since 1994. There had been a grocery store at that location for decades.

The other Dave’s Marketplace in the shopping plaza at 1000 Division Street is the only supermarket actually located in town. Stop and Shop, also in North Kingstown, is across Frenchtown Road from the now-defunct Dave’s.

Representatives of Dave’s think their former grocery store neighbor may have had a hand in why it left the Frenchtown Road location.
